High Intensity Germicidal UVC filters are effective at greatly reducing micro-organisms, (including viruses, bacteria and mould spores), from airflows and surfaces that are directly subjected to the UVC light rays.
The filters can be installed into air conditioning systems, fixed as ceiling units to decontaminate rooms when unoccupied, or mobile units that can be moved from one area to another. These filters will reduce the exposure of patients and healthcare workers (HCWs) to environmental pathogens, decreasing the risk of contracting infections, (HCAIs). Decreasing infections will reduce antibiotic usage and the additional costs associated with infections.

This suite of products is designed for enhanced environmental decontamination of surfaces, and to reduce the redistribution of airborne micro-organisms from air-conditioning units. Micro-organisms susceptible to these products include (bacteria viruses and mould spores). A reduction of surface contamination and airborne dissemination of micro-organisms would result in reduced patient exposure to pathogens and thus reduce the risk of infection.
The company’s ultraviolet germicidal irradiation (UVGI) products have been tested in a neonatal intensive care unit and the results are positive. The authors concluded:
“eUVGI decreased HVAC microbial colonization and was associated with reduced NICU environment and tracheal microbial colonization. Significant reductions in VAP and antibiotic use were also associated with eUVGI in this single-center study. The evidence for UVGI per se continues to grow. The need for reduction of airborne dissemination and effective surface decontamination is also well recognised. The company states its products are used widely by NATO and the Ministry of Defence. The company can provide evidence for potential return on investment with use in air-conditioning systems. The company predicts no system disruption and health related issues for staff.
