The BD ChloraPrep™ applicators contain a fast-acting antiseptic solution, which is used to disinfect skin before aseptic procedures and thus reduce the risk of micro-organisms gaining entry - thereby preventing infections. Such aseptic procedures include such as venesection, insertion of catheters and surgery. The choice of applicator will depend on the invasive procedure being undertaken, the clinician’s preference and the area of skin needing to be prepared. Guides as to which applicator to use for the size of area to be disinfected are provided.
All the BD ChloraPrep™ products contain 2 antiseptics, which are both effective and recommended in national guidance to support the reduction of specific healthcare associated infections, i.e. surgical site infections and all invasive device associated infections (which includes vascular access devices).
